Overview

The 3.0L Duramax LZ0 Tuning Package is a complete tuning solution for compatible 2023 and newer Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks equipped with the 3.0L Duramax LZ0 diesel engine. This package includes the OBD2 tuning interface, HP Tuners tuning credits, a custom LZ0 tune file and the required CAN BUS plug kit for supported off-road and competition applications.

Important: LZ0 ECM tuning requires an ECM unlock service before a custom tune can be installed. Verify your exact year, model, engine and ECM configuration before ordering.

How to Identify an LZ0

If you are unsure whether your truck is equipped with an LM2 or LZ0, check the 8th digit of the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number):

  • If the 8th digit is T, the truck has the LM2 engine.
  • If the 8th digit is 8, the truck has the LZ0 engine.

As a general rule, 2020–2022 trucks use the LM2 while 2023+ trucks use the LZ0. The VIN is the best way to verify engine configuration before ordering.

How the LZ0 Tuning Package Works

ECM Unlock Requirement

The LZ0 ECM requires an unlock before custom tuning can be written to the module. The ECM unlock is a separate service unless specifically included with your selected tuning package.

Do not skip the unlock process. Attempting to program an LZ0 ECM that has not been properly unlocked can prevent the calibration from being written and may result in programming issues.
