Overview

The 3.0L Duramax LZ0 Delete Kit is a complete DPF, DEF & EGR emissions delete solution with custom tuning for compatible 2023 and newer Chevrolet and GMC trucks equipped with the 3.0L Duramax LZO diesel engine. This kit will not work on 2020–2022 LM2 models. It combines the required tuning hardware, ECM tuning credits, custom tune file, exhaust components, EGR delete hardware and CAN BUS components for a complete LZ0 delete setup in one order.

Important: LZ0 ECM tuning requires an ECM unlock service before custom tuning can be installed. Verify your exact year, model and ECM compatibility before ordering.

Vehicle Compatibility

This kit is designed for Chevrolet and GMC trucks equipped with the second-generation 3.0L Duramax LZ0. Always confirm the vehicle year, model, engine and ECM configuration before ordering.

Year Make / Model Engine
2023+ Chevrolet Silverado 1500 3.0L Duramax LZ0
2023+ GMC Sierra 1500 3.0L Duramax LZ0
Not compatible: 2020–2022 Silverado 1500 / Sierra 1500 trucks use the 3.0L Duramax LM2, which requires a different ECM unlock, delete pipe and tune file. If you have an LM2, see the 3.0L Duramax LM2 Delete Kit instead.

How to Know for Absolute Certain

If you are looking at a truck that is right on the borderline, you don't have to guess. Look at the 8th digit of the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number):

  • If the 8th digit is T, it is the older LM2 engine.
  • If the 8th digit is 8, it is the newer LZ0 engine.

Still unsure? Send us your VIN before ordering and we will match the correct delete kit and tune file.

Duramax LM2 vs LZ0

The LM2 (2020–2022) and LZ0 (2023+) are two generations of GM's 3.0L Duramax. They share the same EGR delete hardware, but each requires its own ECM unlock, delete pipe and tune file calibration.

LM2 LZ0
Model years 2020 – 2022 2023+
VIN (8th digit) T 8
EGR delete kit Same Same
Delete pipe LM2-specific LZ0-specific
ECM unlock & tune file LM2 calibration LZ0 calibration

Have an LM2? Use the 3.0L Duramax LM2 Delete Kit instead.

Tune Options

Select the performance tune that best matches how you plan to use your 3.0L Duramax LZ0. Available tune options may vary depending on your vehicle configuration and selected tuning package.

Tune Type Performance Level Best For
Stock Optimized Stock-level performance Emissions delete only, factory power
Tow Moderate performance Towing and hauling
Street Higher performance Daily driving with added power

Exact tune output depends on the calibration supplied for your vehicle. Select the appropriate tune option when configuring your kit.

What's Included

  • OBD2 Flash Tuning Interface
  • 6 HP Tuners ECM credits (10 if also selecting a TCM tune)
  • Custom LZ0 ECM tune file
  • Complete LZ0 EGR delete kit
  • CAT & DPF delete pipe / exhaust components
  • Required LZ0 CAN BUS plug components
  • Installation hardware included with selected components
Transmission tuning: The standard LZ0 package includes the 6 HP Tuners credits needed for ECM tuning. If you add the optional TCM tune when configuring your kit, the 4 extra credits needed for TCM licensing are automatically included, for a total of 10 credits in your bundle. No separate credit purchase is required.

What Does the LZ0 Delete Kit Replace?

The 3.0L Duramax LZ0 delete kit combines the hardware and tuning required when removing supported factory emissions components from an off-road vehicle. Depending on the configuration selected, the package addresses the DPF, DEF and EGR systems while providing the ECM calibration required for the vehicle to operate with those components removed.

  • Removes the factory DPF and associated exhaust restriction using the selected delete exhaust components
  • Provides hardware for removal or bypass of supported EGR components
  • Includes custom ECM calibration for the modified emissions configuration
  • Includes the HP Tuners credits required for LZ0 ECM licensing
  • Combines major tuning and hardware components into one fitment-matched package

Installation Requirements

Before beginning the tuning process, make sure you have the following:

  • Windows laptop running a supported version of Windows
  • Latest compatible version of HP Tuners VCM Suite BETA, available from HP Tuners
  • Stable internet connection
  • Compatible OBD2 Flash Tuning Interface
  • Unlocked LZ0 ECM ready for programming

OBD2 read and write instructions can be found in our OBD2 Flash Tuning Interface Instructions.

Shipping & Tuning Details

Shipping and processing times depend on the options selected with your LZ0 delete kit. Orders requiring an ECM unlock service or custom calibration may require additional processing before the complete tuning process can be finished.

When purchasing HP Tuners credits or custom tuning, make sure all requested vehicle and interface information is entered accurately. Incorrect vehicle, ECM or device information may delay tune-file preparation or licensing.

Important: The vehicle should be operating correctly and free from unresolved diagnostic or emissions countdown issues before tuning or removing emissions-related components. Do not remove emissions components before completing the required ECM unlock, vehicle read and tuning procedures. Failure to follow the supplied instructions may result in programming problems or ECM damage.

FAQ

Is the LM2 and LZ0 EGR delete the same?

Yes. The EGR delete hardware is shared between the 3.0L Duramax LM2 and LZ0, so the same EGR delete kit fits both engines. The difference is in the tuning: each engine needs its own ECM unlock, delete pipe and custom tune file calibration.

Can I use an LM2 delete tune on an LZ0 Duramax?

No. The LZ0 uses a different ECM calibration and a different unlock process than the LM2. An LM2 DPF/DEF/EGR delete tune will not load correctly on an LZ0 ECM, and vice versa. Each engine requires a custom tune file written for its own calibration so the truck runs correctly with the DPF, DEF and EGR removed and without codes, limp mode or regen attempts.

How do I know if my 3.0L Duramax is an LM2 or LZ0?

Check the 8th digit of your VIN: T = LM2, 8 = LZ0. As a general rule, 2020–2022 trucks are LM2 and 2023+ trucks are LZ0, but the VIN is the definitive check. See How to Know for Absolute Certain above.

Does the LZ0 delete kit require an ECM unlock?

Yes. The LZ0 ECM must be unlocked before any custom tune can be written to it. Do not remove any emissions components until the unlock, vehicle read and tuning steps are complete.

Is TCM tuning included with the LZ0 delete kit?

TCM tuning is an optional add-on. When you select it while configuring the kit, the 4 additional HP Tuners credits it requires are bundled in automatically (10 credits total instead of 6), so there is nothing extra to buy.
