Overview

This GM Duramax L5P Cat & DPF Delete Pipe is designed to replace the restrictive factory emissions section on 2017–2026 6.6L Duramax pickup trucks. By removing the catalytic converter and DPF assembly, this Duramax L5P delete pipe allows exhaust gases to exit the turbocharger with significantly less restriction. The result is improved exhaust flow, reduced backpressure, and a cleaner path for performance-oriented tuning applications.

Compatibility

  • Years: 2017–2026
  • Makes: Chevrolet, GMC
  • Models: Silverado 2500HD, Silverado 3500HD, Sierra 2500HD, Sierra 3500HD
  • Engine: 6.6L Duramax L5P Diesel
  • Important: Fits pickup trucks only. Does not fit 3500/4500/5500 Cab & Chassis models. Cab & Chassis trucks use a different exhaust configuration.

Key Features & Build Details

  • 4' Mandrel-Bent Exhaust Tubing – Maintains a consistent internal diameter throughout the pipe to reduce turbulence and improve overall exhaust gas evacuation from the turbo.
  • Dual Stainless Steel Material Options – Available in T-304 stainless steel for maximum corrosion resistance or T-409 stainless steel for a more economical option while still maintaining durability.
  • Direct Replacement Design – Built to replace the factory catalytic converter and DPF section, maintaining proper routing under the truck while using OEM hanger locations.
  • Full Emissions Section Removal – Eliminates the restrictive catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter assembly commonly known to create exhaust backpressure on tuned trucks.

Performance Benefits

  • Reduced Exhaust Backpressure – Removing the factory DPF and catalytic converter significantly improves exhaust flow, helping the turbo operate more efficiently.
  • Improved Turbo Response – Less restriction after the turbo allows exhaust gases to exit faster, which can help improve turbo spool characteristics.
  • Lower Exhaust Gas Temperatures – Improved exhaust flow can help stabilize EGT levels during heavy load or towing situations when paired with proper tuning.
  • Supports Performance Tuning – Provides the necessary exhaust configuration required for off-road race tuning on L5P Duramax trucks.

Installation Notes

Direct-fit exhaust section designed to replace the factory catalytic converter and DPF assembly. Installs using standard exhaust tools and factory mounting locations. Professional installation is recommended, and ECM tuning is required to prevent emissions-related fault codes after installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit a 2019 or 2024 L5P Duramax truck?

Yes. This pipe fits 2017–2026 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD pickup trucks equipped with the 6.6L L5P Duramax engine.

Does this fit Cab & Chassis trucks like the 3500HD, 4500 or 5500?

No. Cab & Chassis trucks use a different exhaust configuration. This pipe is designed specifically for pickup models only.

What is the difference between T-304 and T-409 stainless steel?

T-304 stainless offers higher corrosion resistance and is preferred for trucks operating in wet or salted environments. T-409 stainless is more cost-effective while still providing solid durability for normal use.

Is tuning required after installing this pipe?

Yes. Since this pipe removes the factory emissions components, proper ECU tuning is required to prevent check engine lights and ensure correct engine operation.

Does the kit include hardware?

The pipe is designed to integrate with factory mounting points and exhaust hangers. Installation typically reuses factory clamps and mounting locations depending on the existing exhaust configuration.
