Overview
This Duramax LB7 LLY LBZ race exhaust is a downpipe-back system for 2001–2007 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax LB7, LLY, or LBZ engine. It replaces the factory exhaust system after the turbo downpipe with a straight pipe setup to improve exhaust flow and reduce backpressure.
The system is available in two sizes: 4-inch and 5-inch. The 5-inch version is offered in either T-304 or T-409 stainless steel. These systems are commonly used on modified Duramax trucks where increased exhaust flow is needed.
This setup is typically installed as an LB7 exhaust upgrade or a 5-inch LBZ exhaust system for trucks running performance tuning or other engine modifications.

Key Features & Build Details
- 4-Inch or 5-Inch Mandrel-Bent Tubing – Keeps consistent internal diameter through bends to maintain exhaust flow.
- Downpipe-Back Layout – Replaces the factory exhaust system from the turbo downpipe rearward while keeping the stock routing and hanger locations.
- Straight Pipe Configuration – No muffler or restriction in the system. Designed for race or off-road builds.
- Factory Hanger Locations – Built to line up with the stock mounting points on Silverado and Sierra HD trucks.
- Hardware Included – Band clamps and hangers are supplied for installation.
Performance Benefits
- Reduced Backpressure – Larger 4-inch or 5-inch tubing allows exhaust gases to exit faster than the factory exhaust system.
- Lower Exhaust Gas Temperatures – Higher exhaust flow can help control EGT under load.
- Faster Turbo Response – Reduced restriction helps the turbo spool more efficiently.
- Supports Modified Duramax Trucks – Common on trucks running tuning or other performance upgrades.
Installation Notes
Moderate installation difficulty. The system installs using the factory exhaust hanger locations and the included band clamps. Basic hand tools are usually enough, but older exhaust hardware may need to be cut or removed.
Tuning may be required after installation depending on the truck setup to prevent diagnostic codes and ensure the engine runs correctly.
