Installing A New Unlocked TCM
ECM/TCM Swap Instructions
Follow these instructions to perform an ECM or TCM swap. This will copy critical data over from the stock TCM to the new one, it will not change the software or segment versions on the new TCM.
Note: While we reference TCM here, follow the same process for ECM swaps by selecting ECM instead of TCM.
Connect VCM Scanner with stock TCM installed
a. Go to "Vehicle Controls & Special Functions"
b. Click "Replace TCM" (under System → General)
c. Follow prompts to complete stock TCM process
Replace stock TCM with HP Tuners unlocked unit
Connect VCM Scanner with unlocked TCM installed
a. Go to "Vehicle Controls & Special Functions"
b. Click "Replace TCM" (under System → General)
c. Follow prompts for unlocked TCM process
Download TCM read from unlocked unit and save info log
Send us the TCM read and info log
⚠️ Important Notice:
Depending on the software/segment version on the unlocked TCM, the truck may experience shifting issues. Test drive briefly (driveway/block is sufficient). If rough shifting occurs:
- Reinstall factory TCM until you receive our TCM tune
- If no issues, unlocked TCM can remain installed
